Tap the tendon below your kneecap. Your leg moves before your brain hears about it — a small circuit has already answered a small physical question. Autocosm gives machines the same division of labor: a layer that knows a few physical truths exactly, beneath the layer that thinks.
THE EXPERIMENT
A wheel, a mark, and a light sensor.
Put a white mark on a wheel and a sensor beside it. Each pass is a click. Open a gate for a known time and count the clicks — the wheel has told the machine about its motion without the machine reconstructing a photograph of the wheel. The same grammar fits anything that repeats: a carrier crossing a threshold, a gear tooth passing a pickup, a waveform crossing zero.
Choose the event
The front end decides which physical crossing is allowed to become a digital edge.
Choose the interval
A precision gate defines exactly how long the machine listens.
Preserve the count
Admitted events advance exact integer state — tested against a bin, phase, ratio, or lock condition.
If the phenomenon has already supplied a count, keep the count as a count. If it has supplied a rhythm, give the rhythm a cyclic place to live.
THE RINGS
Four clocks remember one number.
Imagine four clock faces with 11, 13, 17, and 19 positions. Every event advances all four by one. After 25 events the faces read 3, 12, 8, and 6 — no single face knows the number. Together, they do, uniquely, for tens of thousands of counts. Rings wrap by construction. They update independently — no carry ripples from small places to large. Within range, every update is exact.
Physics decides which crossings become events. Autocosm preserves the admitted events without adding a second layer of fractional approximation. Exactness lives on the digital side of a deliberately visible boundary.

THE FIRST EAR
Radio is the purest spin.
RF supplies a perfectly disciplined cyclic input — no gearboxes, no friction, no integration cycle between the idea and the instrument. The first instrument, autocosm-rf-v1, targets persistent event awareness in the 902–928 MHz band: always listening, on a µA-class power target.
